What makes up the culture that is the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Jazz Studies Area?

The students get real-world experience throughout their time at school

They are urged to create their own groups, make an album at one of our 3 state-of-the-art recording studios 

Twin cities is only a 75-minute drive away and access to one of the countries largest music-scenes from small combo modern jazz, to full-scale union broadway shows. Most students within the jazz studies area start to work and gig on a sonsitent scale by the latter portion of their schooling

UW-Eau Claire Jazz Studies students get jobs because of their time with us. 

   Some of those opportunities while in school are: 

               Eau Claire Jazz, Inc. internships 

                        - ie: Logistics, Graphic Artists, Marketing, Office Manager, Development, Talent buying etc

               Large Jazz Studies Area 

                        - Opportunities to lead and direct Jazz Ensembles under the guidance of master-teachers 

                        - Internships

                              - ie: Operations Director, Communications, extra-events coordinator 

                        - LOTS of opportunities to play 

                                   - Four Big Bands and Nine combos

                      - Here we urge students to start living their life as they want it to be post-graduation. Students are urged too:

                          - Form their own group and market it within the surrounding areas 

                          - Record a record in of our three professional recording studio 

                          - lot of opportunities to start professionally performing in the twin cities area

                              - Often seeing students eventually get asked to be a full-time member of certain professional groups 

                      - Play and be a part of the Eau Claire Jazz Festival and Gatsby's Gala
